Environmental breakdown is happening at an accelerated speed. The damage may be unequal, but the burden is for everyone to carry, no matter where you live or who you are. We are all under threat. The international treaties and commitments and the infrastructural, technological, and regulatory solutions deployed have not achieved sustainable and equitable development. At least 2 billion people still drink contaminated water, and rising fossil fuel emissions bring us closer to catastrophic tipping points.
The traditional top-down development model has left the social capital of billions of people unused. We need to place science, knowledge, and action power in the hands of those community members who are struggling most. They are our change makers. We are their supporters.
